Life loosing some of its colour lately?
Bring out the beauty and colour of your soft furnishings with Solent Cleaners professional drycleaning process. A build-up of dirt and other soiling agents cause soft furnishing materials to lose their colour over time so we recommend having your curtains and covers cleaned seasonally to keep them looking their best.
When you drop off your curtains or sofa covers we will examine each one and note down all relevant information before cleaning. This will include details such as: approximate age and value; any staining or discolouration present; whether or not it is part of a set of furnishings; the condition of the material and/or linings; and the dimensions of curtains measured to the nearest centimetre. Any issues arising from this initial examination will then be explained. After this we will quote a price for the cleaning of the furnishings and ask you to read and sign our Curtain/Soft Furnishing Cleaning Service, a copy of which you can keep for your information.
Your furnishings will then be thoroughly and gently cleaned by the appropriate method. We use specialist processing, which releases the soiling, cleansing the material and retexturing the fabric at the same time. Carefully controlled low temperature drying minimises the risk of shrinkage and distortion. After drying the curtains are checked for residual stains or marks.

Relaxation Shrinkage
All reputable manufacturers and retailers point out that due to the nature of furnishing fabrics, ‘relaxation’ shrinkage can occur during cleaning. Relaxation shrinkage can be seen by the release of spinning and weaving tensions, particularly during a first clean or wash, and British Standards tolerance allows for relaxation of up to 3%.
Atmospheric Damage
Whilst your curtains have been in use, sunlight, atmospheric conditions, heat, damp and cold will have reacted on the material, both weakening and fading some fabrics. Because linings take the brunt of the sunlight, there will come a time when they are so weakened that they begin to fail during cleaning. We will of course notify you in advance if we are concerned about this possibility, however it is not always possible to predict. The curtain fabric itself is normally only effected on the unlined edges or when the curtain does not have a lining. There may be some instances when degradation only becomes apparent after processing and we are sure that you will appreciate that we cannot be held responsible for such issues that may arise through circumstances beyond our control.

Prints, Chintz & Glazed Cotton
With the gentleness of the processing, and sophistication of our finishing techniques, we are normally able to retain the finish on such materials. However we are unable to guarantee this, and there may at times be some loss or difference when compared with the new fabric, and the depth of the dye.
Matching Sets
Household furnishing fabrics are subject to localised abrasion , wear and soiling during normal use. Drycleaning or laundering will naturally, as part of the cleaning process, expose any slight change in colours or wear of the fabric. We strongly recommend therefore that all pieces of a set are cleaned at the same time, to minimise shading variations.
